Fred Van Paassen starts production in new greenhouse and brings back Pina Colada at VannoVa

In Wervershoof this week, Fred and Jan van Paassen harvested their first chrysanthemums in the new 4.5-hectare greenhouse, which was commissioned more than 10 weeks ago. The modern new-build project, developed with Technokas, is an important step towards further growth, optimisation and sustainable cultivation. The greenhouse is fully equipped for maximum quality, efficiency and stability, essential for the high-quality cultivation work of Fred van Paassen Chrysanthemums.

The greenhouse is equipped with a complete screening system, including double screens, roller gable screens and an insect mesh solution. High-quality components from suppliers such as A1, Ridder and Stolze ensured a stable and energy-efficient greenhouse climate in line with the company's sustainable ambitions.

A nursery built on three generations of craftsmanship

Fred van Paassen Chrysanten specialises in spray chrysanthemums with high ornamental value and continuously invests in techniques that ensure better flowers.

Fred says: "I took over the baton in the '85s from my father Henk. Since 2017, son Jan van Paassen has also been active in the company. From our location in Andijk, we expanded the business and in 2020 Wervershoof joined it as a modern new-build location. Where an additional location was added this year. Our drive? Passion for Flowers: the passion to get a little better every day."

Jan adds: "We grow Baltica and Altaj, two white filled bunch chrysanthemums that are popular in the market. We root our young plants ourselves and continuously improve our technique and knowledge to achieve quality gains."

Fred concludes, "Our company is fully equipped to deliver the perfect bunch chrysanthemum. Every choice contributes to that goal. That constant search for better and smarter work drives us every day, that is ón our Passion for Flowers.”

Pina Colada back in the VannoVa range

With the new greenhouse, a favourite also returns: the spray chrysanthemum Pina Colada, bred by Dümmen Orange. After a three-year absence, this popular variety will again be grown at the Wervershoof location. The modern greenhouse and advanced climate techniques ensure optimum quality, uniformity and continuity, in line with VannoVa's high standards.

Fred and Jan: "It feels good to bring back Pina Colada. In the new greenhouse, we can grow this variety at a higher level than ever. We look forward to once again providing our customers with this strong and much-loved bunch chrysanthemum."

With this new building project, Fred and Jan van Paassen are strengthening their position within VannoVa and contributing to an innovative, reliable and sustainable range of spray chrysanthemums.
