Chrysanthemum Nursery Van Wijk has been growing high-quality chrysanthemums since 1992. Gabri and Sandra started on 7,500 m2 and have since expanded to a total area of 6 hectares. Their two sons are also working in the business and Chrysanthemum Nursery Van Wijk has made the move to fully organic cultivation in 2024.

Gabri: "Together with my wife Sandra, we wanted to start our own business. In dairy farming, where I originally come from, this proved very difficult. So we turned our search to horticulture. In 1992, we found a 7,500 m2 horticultural farm that already contained chrysanthemums. We bought this and to this day we grow chrysanthemums.

After 5 years, we expanded to 12,000 m2 with some assimilation lighting. Here we grew for 10 years, until the new 24,000 m2 construction in 2007. This garden meets all the requirements for growing premium chrysanthemums. Our motto is therefore: What we do, we want to do well!"

Sandra: "Since 2019, we have been growing the spray chrysanthemum Radost, which stands out for its unusual shape. Apart from the white variety, we also grow the Radost Cream. These varieties are highly sought after in Eastern Europe. By joining VannoVa's Master Growers, we think we can serve these customers even better.

The cultivation takes care of Gabri. I do the final control at packing. It seems our two boys have also been infected with the virus, they both work in chrysanthemums."

Niels: "In 2024, we acquired a second location in de Lier, a 30,000-sq m greenhouse. In this greenhouse we will grow the varieties Commander and Rihanna grow. Two great additions to the existing range and both popular with florists in Europe."
