On Saturday 29 March, J&A Flowers opened its doors to invited guests. The family business, run by proud owners Erwin van Luijk and Remco van Ruyven, under the watchful eye of Jan and Andre van Ruyven (where the name J&A Flowers comes from), recently expanded its location on the Scheeweg in De Lier.
With an expansion of no less than 36,000 m², J&A Flowers has taken an important step in the company's growth. The new facility is equipped with advanced growing techniques, including LED lighting, misting and double screens to keep the climate optimal. These innovations allow the company to supply the highest quality chrysanthemums all year round. A lot of attention is also paid to sustainability, such as insect netting in the vents and an advanced air treatment system.
During the Open Day, visitors had the opportunity to admire the new greenhouse and innovative cultivation methods up close. The proud owners Erwin and Remco were present to share their experiences surrounding the recent expansion. Remco said: "The construction went smoothly and we are extremely grateful to our partners for their efforts. We are proud of the result, which enables us to grow more efficient and sustainable crops. This expansion marks an important step in our growth and enables us to serve our customers even better."
The expansion not only provides room for further growth, but also allows us to centralise business operations. Erwin added: "This new building allows us to leave the temporary rental location and centralise everything. This offers great advantages in terms of automation and efficiency. Next year, we will add another 3 hectares at this location."
The enthusiastic response from visitors reflects the positive reception to recent developments at J&A Flowers. The company remains committed to growing top-quality chrysanthemums and looks forward to further growth with anticipation.
