Chrysanthemum nursery van Wijk expands

Chrysanthemum Nursery van Wijk is taking an important step in its growth with the acquisition of Kwekerij Gildeland in De Lier. This expansion enables Gabri and Sandra van Wijk and their sons Ruud and Niels to increase their cultivation capacity and add two special chrysanthemum varieties, Rihanna and Commander, to their range.

"The nursery's modern facilities are an excellent fit for our future plans," says Gabri van Wijk. "With this location, we can further scale up our chrysanthemum cultivation and respond to the growing demand for distinctive varieties. In addition, the expansion is also important for the involvement of our sons, who are taking on more and more responsibility within the family business."

Ruud and Niels see the acquisition as a long-term strategic move. "With the advanced technology of the existing nursery, we can continue our cultivation in a sustainable way and further improve the quality of our products," says Niels. "The varieties Rihanna and Commander are both strong varieties that strengthen our current offering - consisting of Radost and Radost Cream - allowing us to meet our customers' needs even better."

Cooperation with chrysanthemum collective VannoVa also plays an important role in this expansion. "Joining VannoVa enables us, together with other growers, to respond faster to developments in the market and strengthen our innovative power," Niels van Wijk says. "We see cooperation with like-minded growers as a great added value for the future of our company."
